Send us event plans

It’s time again for Splash!, The Herald’s annual guide to all things summer in Snohomish County and beyond.

We’re rounding up submissions on fairs and festivals, outdoor movies, concerts, Independence Day celebrations and other summer events.

Want to share your event with our readers? Email features@heraldnet.com to let us know when and where before April 26. Put SPLASH in the subject line.

Chili Cook-off: People can taste chili and donate to the Granite Falls Relay for Life at a cook-off Saturday. About 10 different chili dishes are being prepared for the town’s second annual cook-off, event organizers say.

Tasting is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Granite Falls Eagles Club, 402 N. Granite Ave. Admission is free. People select the winner of the cook-off by donating in tip jars. The chef whose chili gets most money wins, and cash from the jars goes toward cancer treatment and research. Last year’s cook-off raised about $1,300.

Mariner High anti-drug event: A nonprofit helping people recover from substance abuse has scheduled an event from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednedsay at Mariner High School in Everett. Motivational speaker and former NFL player Trent Shelton of RehabTime is to discuss addiction, self-harm, depression and suicide. Snohomish County Drug and Gang Task Force Commander Pat Slack and Lindsey Greinke of Hope Soldiers will be on hand for referrals to help those struggling with addiction and depression.
