Public hearing in Snohomish

The city of Snohomish is holding a public hearing about a boat ramp and parking lot it wants to build along the Snohomish River. The hearing is to take place at 1 p.m. July 16 at the Snohomish Fire District auditorium, 1525 Avenue D.

The ramp is to be built on 20 acres of riverfront property the city purchased for $500,000 in 2014. It is to be located west of Lincoln Avenue and south of First Street.

Documents that describe the proposal are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at City Hall, 116 Union Ave. People also may submit written comments to City Hall up to 5 p.m. July 15. Comments also will be accepted at the public hearing.

Carnival in Smokey Point: The third annual Smokey Point Carnival kicks of Thursday at the corner of 172nd Street and 51st Avenue. The carnival includes rides, vendors, food and live entertainment. Tickets are $19 at the gate. The hours are 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, noon to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday.

Unwanted drugs and a baseball game: Snohomish County and the Snohomish Health District plan a free drug take-back event at the June 28 AquaSox game in Everett.

Unwanted drugs, prescriptions, pet meds and electronics can be discarded for free by ticket holders at the designated disposal site.
