Groundbreaking for new YMCA: A community groundbreaking celebration for the Stanwood-Camano YMCA is scheduled for 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the building site, 7213 267th St. NW, Stanwood.

Efforts to bring a YMCA to the Stanwood-Camano community have been in the works since 2010. The YMCA has provided programs in the Stanwood-Camano community since 2012.

“This is really a celebration of fundraisers and the community coming together to raise the funds necessary to be able to build this facility,” said Ken Kettler, chairman of the Stanwood-Camano YMCA Organizing Committee.

For questions regarding the groundbreaking event or donating to the YMCA, call Dawne Wentworth at 360-629-9622.
