Lynnwood fire talk

A work session is planned for 7 p.m. Monday for the Lynnwood City Council to learn about options for fire protection service.

City leaders for years have been debating whether to keep the fire department or contract with Fire District 1. They also could decide to create a regional fire authority, a new government body that levies its own taxes. Both the Lynnwood and Fire District 1 firefighters unions are expected to comment at the meeting. The Council Chambers are located at City Hall, 19100 44th Ave. W.

New dangerous-dog rules: Lynnwood is mulling changes to rules regarding dangerous dogs.

Police say legal questions had come up regarding the process they use to quarantine dogs or declare them dangerous and require owners to take precautions.

Tickets are being issued for violations. The City Council is expected to review the proposed changes in early July.

High Bridge Road to be shut down: Snohomish County has scheduled a full road closure of High Bridge Road in the Monroe area from 7 a.m. July 6 through 5 p.m. July 31. The road will be closed between Mt Forest Boulevard and the King County line for repairs. No traffic will be allowed during the closure, including emergency vehicles.

A detour route will be posted.
