Hunter education sessions offered

MONROE — Prospective hunters can fulfill skill requirements to obtain a state hunting license at a special Aug. 29 event organized by the Department of Fish &Wildlife.
The Hunter Education Jamboree is intended for prospective hunters who have completed an online hunter-education course, but need to demonstrate their skills in the field.
To particpate, people must register online by Aug. 21.
The jamboree is planned at the Boy Scouts of America’s Camp Pigott on 24225 Woods Creek Road near Lake Roesiger. Participants can choose from two sessions on Aug. 29: 8 a.m. to noon or 1 to 5 p.m.
Each session can accommodate up to 80 students.

All prospective Washington hunters born after Jan. 1, 1972, are required to show proof of hunter education course completion before purchasing their first hunting license.
