Man reported missing in North Fork Skykomish River near Index

INDEX — Firefighters and sheriff’s deputies raced to the North Fork Skykomish River after a man was reported missing and in the river.

The call came in at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, and it took emergency responders more than 30 minutes to reach the remote location near the Troublesome Creek Campground.

The operation changed from rescue to recovery mode about an hour after the first call. The missing man is reportedly in his mid-20s, said the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, which was among the agencies that responded.

With daylight fading, the search was called off for the night.
