Who needs Elysian’s Great Pumpkin Beer Fest?

On the same day as the Elysian festival, which is sold out, Snohomish County has its own Pumpkin Fest courtesy Middleton Brewing in Everett. The second annual Pumpkin Fest! is at noon Oct. 3 and will feature 20 pumpkin beers and a pumpkin cider.

This year Middleton owner Geoff Middleton said he will run it like a festival, giving ticket holders five pours per ticket, which are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. There will also be pumpkin carving, pumpkin pie, a full food menu and more pumpkin fun.

Middleton is brewing most of the pumpkin beers on tap, including:

  • Peach pumpkin wheat ale
  • Pumpkin/orange/vanilla blonde
  • Roasted pumpkin red ale
  • Coconut pumpkin brown
  • Eggnog pumpkin stout
  • Smoked pumpkin porter
  • Oak-aged pumpkin and whiskey imperial stout

Middleton also collaborated with Snohomish’s Sound to Summit in creating a pumpkin and sweet potato pale ale that will be Randalled through sweet potatoes and toasted marshmallows. The beer will also be on tap — though without the Randall — at Sound to Summit on Saturday.

Along with the Middleton beers, there will also be three guest taps with beers from Sound to Summit, Everett’s Lazy Boy Brewing and Marysville’s Whitewall Brewing.

Besides the collaboration pale ale, Sound to Summit will bring Bad Jack’s Pumpkin Ale, a pumpkin spice ale.

Whitewall Brewing is bringing Jack-O-Nuts, a pumpkin porter based off the brewery’s Truck Nuts Porter. Whitewall used 40 pounds of pumpkin and added 50 pounds of roasted butternut and acorn squash to the boil, finishing it off with spices at the end of the boil.

Lazy Boy is also bringing a pumpkin porter.

The cider on tap will be a pumpkin cider from Ace.
