GOLD BAR — A human skull was found last week on private timber land east of Gold Bar.

The adult skull was taken to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation. No other human remains were found at the site, about five miles from U.S. 2, sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.

A logger found the skull Nov. 25 and called authorities. The sheriff’s office issued a press release about the case on Wednesday.

“Detectives are looking into the circumstances of how and why the skull came to be in the area and the incident remains under investigation,” Ireton said.
