SPOKANE — Spokane utility company Avista is preparing for a rise in popularity of electric cars by installing more charging stations around the city.

KXLY-TV reported that Avista is planning to install 250 charging stations across Spokane. They will be a mix of residential, business and public stations.

If approved by the Washington Utility Transportation Commission, Avista will use the charging stations to study how charging will affect the power grid. If approved, Avista would install the charging stations in early April.
