WASHINGTON — Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is condemning “any and all forms of violence” in the aftermath of a chaotic Democratic party gathering in Nevada last weekend but says the party needs to understand that millions of Americans are “outraged at establishment politics and establishment economics.”

Sanders issued a statement after Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz denounced the violence and incivility at the Nevada event on Saturday. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada called the upheaval a “test of leadership” for Sanders.

Saturday’s party meeting was marked by chair throwing, shouted profanities and even death threats.

The Nevada Democratic Party sent a letter to the DNC accusing Sanders supporters of having a “penchant” for violence at the event.

Sanders calls the accusation “nonsense.”
