EVERETT — An Everett boy was clinging to life Wednesday after being pulled out of a swimming pool Tuesday afternoon.
The call came in at 4:47 p.m. for a report of a boy who’d drowned, Everett fire marshal Eric Hicks said.
A bystander discovered the child at the bottom of the pool, pulled the child out and started CPR, Hicks said.
The incident occurred at the Arterra Apartments, 711 W Casino Road.
Engine 6 and Medic 6 from the Everett Fire Department arrived within three minutes of being called and started treating the child, Hicks said.
“They were able to bring back a pulse,” Hicks said.
They transported him to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. He later was taken to Seattle Children’s Hospital.
“I currently don’t know the condition of the boy,” Hicks said.
The boy is a fourth-grade student at Horizon Elementary School along W Casino Road, said Andy Muntz, a spokesman for the Mukilteo School District. The school is about five blocks from the apartment complex.
The boy reportedly was on life support. He is 9. His birthday is later this month.
A parent liaison working at Horizon is a friend of the boy’s mother.
“They have been talking to family and offering support,” Muntz said.
