See sheepdogs compete on Vashon Island

See sheepdogs in action, June 9 through 12, at Vashon Sheepdog Classic at Misty Isle Farms on Vashon Island.

Bring a chair or blanket to watch trained dogs compete and visit the food and fiber-arts vendors.

Admission is $10. Advance purchase is recommended; www.vashonsheepdogclassic.com.

I’ll drink to that: Woodinville Wine Ride, June 12.

Cruise along the breezy shores of Lake Washington on the 30-mile route that begins at the Woodhouse Wine Estates in the heart of wine country, with riders using the Sammamish River Trail and Burke-Gilman Trail into Seattle and back; www.cascade.org/rides-major-rides/woodinville-wine-ride.

Water critters: A celebration of restoration work at Thornton Creek is from 2 to 6 p.m. June 11 at Meadowbrook Pond Park, 10517 35th Ave. NE, Seattle. The event includes kid-friendly activities, including a chance to look up close at aquatic critters. For more info, contact Judy Olsen at 206-523-4384 or Tom Murdoch at 425-316-8592.

Coming up: The Fremont Solstice celebration, with its famous nude cyclists, is June 17 to 19. Beyond the cyclists, there’s also plenty of live music, shopping, food and more; fremontsolstice.com.
