EVERETT — A blue-and-white pickup created high-speed havoc from Getchell to Everett mid-morning Sunday. It finally stopped in a crash involving three other vehicles on Everett Mall Way.
The 32-year-old woman who was allegedly driving the truck got out and started running south. A police dog caught up with her about a block from the crash scene.
Police arrested the woman and took her to Providence Regional Medical Center for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
It could have been “catastrophic,” Everett Police spokesman Aaron Snell said.
He said the woman will be booked. Charges could include eluding, hit-and-run, and possessing a stolen vehicle and felony harassment.
The truck’s erratic and fast driving attracted the attention of multiple agencies — Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Stevens Police, Marysville Police, Washington State Patrol and Everett Police.
Officers tried to stop the vehicle, which did not pull over. Not wanting to put other drivers at risk, they did not pursue, Snell said.
Everett police were trying to keep clear Everett Mall Way ahead of the truck when it hit at least two cars. A third vehicle veered to avoid being hit, but appeared to have sustained damage from the crash.
People in the other vehicles suffered minor injuries at most, and none were taken to a hospital, he said.
The woman ran, and reportedly threatened a man at a nearby apartment building before police arrested her, he said.
The crash closed Everett Mall Way for nearly two hours. It reopened around midday.
