Mill Creek softball wins regional opener in California

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Amanda Wininger pitched a complete game as Mill Creek defeated Arizona 7-2 in a Little League Western Regional softball tournament game.
Wininger struck out five while allowing five hits and two unearned runs. Deirdre Delgado gave Mill Creek the lead for good with a two-run single during a four-run rally in the bottom of the first inning.
Sydney Warren and Annie Coe each hit an RBI double for Mill Creek, which faces Wyoming at 3 p.m. Sunday. Mill Creek (1-0 in the regional tournament, 9-0 overall) will play Nevada on Monday for its final pool-play game before all teams enter single-elimination bracket play that starts on Tuesday.
