Mukilteo shooting victim Jordan Ebner laid to rest

MUKILTEO — A Mukilteo family asked for privacy Monday as loved ones gathered to remember and to mourn Jordan Ebner.

The 19-year-old Kamiak High School graduate was killed July 30 at a house party. His funeral marked the last of three services for those who died after a gunman opened fire. A fourth victim, Will Kramer, 18, was released Monday from the hospital. Kramer was met with applause as he joined friends at Ebner’s memorial at Rosehill Community Center in Old Town.

Many of the mourners wore purple ribbons, Kamiak’s school color, and T-shirts with a photo of Ebner’s face on the front. On the back read “Live Love For Jordan.”

Some rested in the sunshine on the deck before and after the service, in small groups while children played around them. Others hugged just outside the front door, where a “Mukilteo Strong” banner had been placed.

Kamiak Principal Mike Gallagher attended the service, as did various teachers and coaches, along with Mayor Jennifer Gregerson.

Gregerson said she has spoken with Ebner’s family since his death. They described to her a caring and loving young man with a promising future. She also attended the funeral for victim Jacob Long, 19. The family of Anna Bui, also 19, asked to keep her service for relatives and friends, Gregerson said.

Ebner’s family told the mayor about how much the young man loved his home town.

Plans are under way for a permanent memorial site for those lost.
