MUKILTEO — A 16-year-old Mukilteo boy was taken to Harborview Medical Center Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 525.
The accident happened about 11:15 a.m. near 132nd Street SW, about a mile south of Mukilteo, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The boy had left his home and reportedly sprinted across the road, state patrol Sgt. Mark Francis said. He was struck by a southbound Nissan Pathfinder driven by a 25-year-old Mukilteo woman. It wasn’t clear Wednesday if the boy was in a crosswalk at the time.
“We’re still investigating,” Francis said.
There was no word on the teen’s condition Wednesday. The Pathfinder driver was not injured.
The southbound lanes of the highway were closed for about two hours while troopers investigated.
