MUKILTEO — A 16-year-old Mukilteo boy continues to recover at a Seattle hospital after being struck by a car on Wednesday.

The boy was listed Thursday in serious condition and improving, according to Harborview Medical Center. He remains in the intensive care unit.

The crash is under investigation by the Washington State Patrol. It happened about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday along Highway 525, about a mile south of the city.

The boy was struck by a southbound Nissan Pathfinder driven by a 25-year-old Mukilteo woman. He was not in a crosswalk at the time, Sgt. Mark Francis said.

Early information indicates the driver did not have time to stop, Francis said Thursday.
