The U.S. Navy band Country Current, a country-bluegrass ensemble, gives a free performance at 6:30 p.m. today at the Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave.
Tickets will be issued in person by the Everett Performing Arts Center at no cost. Seating is first come, first serve (unclaimed tickets are to be released 15 minutes before the show). To inquire about tickets, call 425-257-8600.
Dog classes: School is in session for puppies and dogs in Mountlake Terrace. The city’s recreation and parks department is offering basic obedience classes for puppies and a more advanced course for dogs with some prior training.
Puppygarten meets Thursdays from 7-8 p.m beginning Sept. 15 at the Recreation Pavilion, 5303 228th St. SW. Puppies must be current on their vaccinations and be 8- to 16-weeks-old. Bring proof of shots, a buckle collar, 6-foot leash and food treats.
Advanced classes will be from 7:30-8:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 14. The course will prepare dogs and owners for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test.
Cost is $80 for residents and $85 for everyone else. To register, call 425-776-9173.
Fun with fire department: Camano Island Fire &Rescue plans an open house and fall safety celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 10. Kid-friendly activities include games, demonstrations and a hot dog lunch.
