Zombie Walk: Zombies and ghouls will lurch through the streets of downtown Snohomish for the annual Zombie Walk on Sept. 17. Zombies, zombie hunters and spectators are asked to bring “rations for the survivors” (food donations for the Snohomish Community Food Bank). K9 fundraiser: The Mirkwood Public House, at 117 E Division St. in Arlington, plans a police appreciation night Sept. 17 to raise money for the Arlington Police K9 program. Live music starts at 7 p.m. with a $5 cover charge. Scheduled to perform are Maiden Voyage, the Skablins, and It Gets Worse. Tweed Ride: The Snohomish Tweed Ride is 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 24. Sew Thoughtful: This month’s charitable sewing project by the Snohomish County Clothing and Textile Advisors will be pajamas for young children served at Safe Place, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 16 in the Evergreen room behind the WSU Extension office at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. Park work: Volunteers are invited to help clean up Ballinger Park Sept. 17 as part of National Day of Service. Driven to Give: Meadowdale High School holds a Driven to Give fundraiser and block party, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 24 at the high school campus, 6002 168th St. SW, Lynnwood. Participants test-drive a luxury Lincoln vehicle from Harris Ford, which then donates $20 per test-drive to the school. Proceeds benefit arts, music and sports programs. Tutor: Everett Community College’s Adult Literacy Center seeks volunteers who can tutor adult learners two or more hours per week in reading, writing, basic math and English as a second language. Assist cancer patients: The Cancer Resource Center at the Providence Regional Cancer Partnership seeks volunteers to work weekly four-hour shifts meeting with cancer patients and caregivers to provide support. Drivers also are needed to get cancer patients to treatments and appointments. Volunteers use their own vehicles and get mileage reimbursement.
