Everett artist Melinda Hannah: The artist has garnered national attention for her Provo, Utah, art show that opens this weekend. The controversial show features Hannah’s portraits of LGBT Mormons. Cascadia Art Museum: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. On third Thursdays, the museum is open until 8 p.m. and is free during Edmonds Art Walk hours, 5 to 8 p.m. Located at 190 Sunset Ave., Edmonds. Edmonds Historical Museum: 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday in the old Carnegie Library, 118 Fifth Ave. N., Edmonds; $5 for adults $2 for students; 425-774-0900; www.historicedmonds.org. Through Nov. 6 see “Hook, Line and Sinker” is about commercial fishing, and draws from Hibulb Cultural Center, Nordic Heritage Museum and private collections. Photos, models, artifacts.

Schack Art Center: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday; 2921 Hoyt Ave., Everett; 425-259-5050; www.schack.org. Free admission. Schack classes include drawing, printmaking, basketry, jewelry and metalsmithing, encaustic, painting, fused glass, blown glass. Schack-toberfest’s glass pumpkin patch (with 700 blown-glass pumpkins for sale) is up through Sept. 25. During the festival, check out the free art activities for kids on Sept. 24 and the “make-it-now” glass pumpkin sessions. “Painted Glass: A Northwest Perspective,” curated by Dick Weiss, opens Oct. 6 and is exhibited through Nov. 5 and features work by Paul Marioni, Ginny Ruffner, Weiss and others.

County Arts Commission: Six new pieces of art are on view through December at the Snohomish County government campus, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett, as part of the 2016 Sculpture Exhibition sponsored by the Snohomish County Arts Commission.

In Our Shoes — Form, Function and Fashion 1790 to 1970: This exhibit, curated by the Everett Museum of History, features more than 90 shoes worn by Snohomish County people. With support from the county Historic Preservation Commission, it is on view at the west county administration building, Rockefeller and Wall in Everett, through Oct. 20.

Arts of the Terrace juried art show: The 38th annual show is up through Oct. 9 at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Ave. W. The show attracts artists from throughout the region. See it from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 25 and Oct. 2, 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 9.

Art Loft Sisters at Fisherman’s Market and Grill: Regular business hours at 1032 W. Marine View Dr., Everett. In September, see Jerry Newport’s acrylics. Newport was a student of Russell Day and Bernie Webber and his work has been shown at the Frye Art Museum in Seattle. Also exhibiting is Nikki Gardner, with her oil figures, landscapes and still life paintings.

Mukilteo artists Christina Bandaragoda and Christine Awad Schmalz are part of the Surge art exhibit through Sept. 25 at MoNA. The subject is climate change as it impacts Northwest coastal communities.

Island County

Matzke Fine Art Gallery and Sculpture Park: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday and by appointment at 2345 Blanche Way, Camano Island; 360-387-2759; www.matzkefineart.com. New sculptures in the 10-acre park are by Reg Akright, Mary Coss, Rob Gigliotti, Knut Huneke, Denise Snyder and Bill Wentworth.The seventh annual art auction of 90 works of art at the Matzke gallery is ongoing. On September weekends, preview and place a bid. Check the website for more information on the art in the auction and the parties that accompany the auction, which is over Oct. 1.

Alden Mason: The Everett-born artist who taught at the University of Washington and died in 2013 is celebrated in a show of selected works during September at the Foster/White Gallery, 220 Third Ave. S., Seattle. More at www.fosterwhite.com.
