Focus on Farming conference Nov. 3 at Monroe fairgrounds

MONROE — The 13th annual Focus on Farming conference is scheduled for Nov. 3 at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds with a keynote speech from Virginia Tech emeritus professor David Kohl, an expert in agricultural finances.
Other scheduled speakers include Brown Paper Tickets CEO Steve Butcher, discussing ways to market. Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers, state Department of Agriculture director Derek Sandison and county agriculture coordinator Linda Neunzig also are slated to speak.
This year’s conference, “Solutions for a Growing World,” includes a component focused on timber lands known as Focus on Forestry. The conference offers workshops aimed at spurring innovation and economic vitality in the farming and forest industries.
Anybody is welcome to attend. Registration opens at 7 a.m. on the day of the conference, which will run until 5:30 p.m. The fairgrounds are at 14405 179th Ave SE, Monroe.
