Honor: Event focuses on Korean War vets
Edmonds Community College hosts a Veterans Day Celebration, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 2 in the Black Box Theatre on the campus at 20000 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood. This year’s event honors local veterans of the Korean War, each of whom will receive an award from South Korean Consulate General Moon Duk-Ho.
The EdCC campus served as an active military base during the Korean War, staff say. The event aims to recognize veterans of what is sometimes called the Forgotten War.
The free event is open to the public.
Other event sponsors include the city of Lynnwood, the Korean Consulate General, and the Lynnwood Korean Sister City Association.

Create: How does library inspire you?
Show how the library has helped you make an artful creation and you could win a Kindle.
The special raffle is part of a “Libraries Inspire Creativity” program, set for 6 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Edmonds Library, 650 Main St. Organizers want people to know about the event now so they can plan their creation. This could be poetry, media art, sculpture, essay or any artistic creation that was motivated by the library.
Bring your project as your raffle entry for one of five Kindle tablets in five age categories, from kids to seniors. The event will include live jazz music by The Hot Club of Troy, refreshments, and more. Bring your exhibit at 5:30 p.m. on event night. Winners will be announced at 6:15 p.m. Creators must be present to win.
The event is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Edmonds Library and Symetra, with additional support from the Edmonds Arts Commission and Sno-Isle Libraries.
