Seattle Radio Theatre: The group returns to the Edmonds Center for the Arts for a third year with a Northwest take on the 1947 classic holiday film, “It Happened on Fifth Avenue,” a topsy-turvy Prince &Pauperfarce about a charming hobo who shows a wealthy family the true riches of the season. The group’s comedy, “Fa-La-La-Haha,” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 20 at the center, 410 Fourth Ave. N. The play is headlined by broadcast media personalities and others, including Jim Dever, Pat Cashman, Tracey Conway, Steve Wilson, Ciscoe Morris, Dolores Rogers, Rob Jones, Lisa Foster, Curtis Takahashi and Tomo Nakayama. Written by Chris Topping, the play is set on Fifth Avenue in Edmonds. All seats are $12. Call 425-275-9505 or order online at www.edmondscenterforthearts.org. Everett-based radio station 90.7 KSER plans to rebroadcast the show on Dec. 24-25. SRT began productions in 2000 with a holiday show featuring Edmonds resident Chris Wedes, better known as J.P. Edmonds Driftwood Players: Wade James Theatre, 950 Main St., Edmonds; www.edmondsdriftwoodplayers.org or 425-774-9600, option 3. “Mr. Scrooge” is on stage through Dec. 18. Lighthearted music makes this a wonderful way for families to enjoy the story of Ebenezer Scrooge.
Red Curtain: Red Curtain Foundation for the Arts, a nonprofit arts education organization, 9315 State Ave., Suite J, Marysville. More at www.redcurtainfoundation.org or 360-322-7402. Nick Poling’s and Alex DeRoest’s “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” plays through Dec. 18. Not recommended for children, but great for teens and adults. Lots of laughs, stage combat and green blood.
Phoenix Theatre: The comedy theater is at 9673 Firdale Ave., Edmonds; 206-533-2000 or www.phoenixtheatreedmonds.org. “The Christmas Spirit” runs through Dec. 18. On Christmas Eve, a woman has an unexpected visitor who intends on escorting her to the afterlife. However, she persuades Death to give her one last day to enjoy Christmas and invites him to her festive party. Tickets are $19, or $16 for military and seniors.
Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas”: The musical is staged through Dec. 17, Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, 565 Camano Ave., Langley. Call 800-638-7631.
