Black and White Ball: The Camano Center’s annual Black and White Ball is set for 7-10 p.m. Dec. 30 at 606 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island. Live music to dance by, appetizers and a Champagne toast. Tickets are $15, $8 for students, and $40 for a family. More info: 360-387-0222.
New Year’s Eve: Celebrate New Year’s Eve starting at 7 p.m. Dec. 31 at Normanna Lodge, 2725 Oakes Ave. in Everett. Polar bear plunge, Edmonds: All are welcome to join Edmonds’ Uplift Society members during the 10th annual polar bear plunge, which takes place at 1 p.m. Jan. 1 at Brackett’s Landing beach, just north of the Edmonds ferry terminal. More info: 425-771-0230.

Winter walk: Friends of Camano Island Parks leads a guided walk Jan. 7 through Cama Beach Park. Meet at 9:50 a.m. at the junction of Ivy Road and Dry Lake Road. Benefit concert: A benefit concert to help an Oregon woman with heart transplant expenses is set for 8 p.m. Dec. 31 at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave. Tickets range from $20 to $75. Women’s shelter: YWCA Pathways for Women shelter in Lynnwood is in need of cleaning and laundry supplies in addition to full-size and twin-size sheets and mattress covers. It also seeks the following food items: peanut butter, juice, canned chicken and ham, hearty soups, cooking oil, Betty Crocker complete dinners, canned fruits and vegetables, snack food, cereal and condiments. Food bank, Lowell: The Lowell Community Food Bank, based at River of Life Community Church in Everett, seeks volunteers and donations.
