Shelter hours change
The Everett Animal Shelter is changing its hours of operation and opening an hour later, at 11 a.m. The shelter will stay open until 5 p.m. seven days a week, excluding holidays. More info: www.everettwa.gov/animals.
Find your roots: The Sno-Isle Genealogical Society offers two ways to start the New Year by researching your ancestors.
Its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday will include a program by local researcher Richard Ek on “Finding the Living Among the Dead.” Ek will discuss using various tools including social media. The meeting will be in the LDS Family History Library at 22015 48th Ave. W, Mountlake Terrace. Guests are invited.
A free monthly class in beginning genealogy is set for 10 a.m. Saturday. The class is held at the Genealogy Research Library in Heritage Park, 19827 Poplar Way, Lynnwood.

Camano parks volunteer work party: The Friends of Camano Island State Parks plan a work party Tuesday. Volunteers should meet at 9:30 a.m. at the ranger station at Camano Island State Park, 2269 Lowell Point Road. Bring lunch and dress for the weather. Drinks and dessert provided.
