Aviation lecture

Artist Chris Hopkins and author Guy E. Franklin are scheduled to present the lecture “Black Aviation through World War II” at 7 p.m. Friday at the Schack Art Center. The lecture goes with the exhibit “Red Tail, Silver Wings,” which opens Thursday. The exhibit includes paintings and sketches illustrating the work of the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II. It continues until Feb. 25 at 2921 Hoyt Ave. Admission to Friday’s presentation is $5, free for veterans.

Book sale in Sultan: The Sultan Friends of the Library are having a used book, media and bake sale Saturday. The sale features mostly paperback and hardback books for children and adults. It starts at 8:30 a.m. and continues until 5 p.m., with a “big bag sale” starting at 3 p.m. The proceeds go toward library programs. The sale is in the community room across the hall from the library at 319 Main St.

Library history lecture: HistoryLink.org staff historian Paula Becker plans to talk about the life and work of Betty MacDonald, author of “The Egg &I,” during an event at the Everett Public Library on Saturday.

The illustrated lecture includes readings from MacDonald’s most famous books. The event starts at 2 p.m.
