EVERETT — The continuing cold snap apparently caused two more water mains in Everett to break late Tuesday and early Wednesday morning, depriving some people of water service while repairs were under way.
A 6-inch cast iron pipe on Glenhaven Drive near Howarth Park broke around midnight Tuesday. About 10 homes lost water service, and the repairs were completed before 3 a.m.
Then at about 9:15 a.m., a main in the 1900 block of State Street broke, knocking out water to 16 homes in the Delta neighborhood. The pipe was repaired by mid-afternoon, city spokeswoman Kathleen Baxter said.
A breakage early Tuesday on Oakes Avenue caused flooding and glazed roads with ice. There were no reports of flooding or water damage in the latest event, Baxter said. Two other mains broke in December.
The Glenhaven Drive water main was installed in 1961, but the other four date to the 1940s.
