Plan: Step-by-step disaster preparedness
You know you should have that emergency food supply put together, a stockpile of potable water, and the first aid kit, and a family plan, and — oh, man … Feeling a bit overwhelmed?
Snohomish County Fire District 1 invites you to join its Ready Together program and “Do 1 Thing” at a time. The program breaks down disaster preparedness into monthly focus topics, with related action steps each week.

Play: Harp players invited to join circle
Harp players are invited to participate in the Puget Sound Folk Harp Circle, 2 to 4:45 p.m. Sunday at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Ave. W.
All levels of harp are welcome, and community members are invited to listen.

Draw: Ferry art contest for 6th- to 8th-graders
Students in grades 6-8 are invited to enter a Washington State Ferries art contest. The winning artwork will be featured on the covers of 600,000 spring sailing schedules. Submissions must be received by Jan. 18.
Art should fit the theme “Ferries + Puget Sound Wildlife.”
All entries must be hand-drawn in black and white using paint or drawing materials, such as pencil or charcoal. Color submissions will not be accepted. Artists are encouraged to use bold, strong lines.
Electronic submissions, via Survey Monkey, must be 300 dpi or higher and portrait oriented. Submissions cannot exceed 16 MB. Mailed submissions must be on 8.5-by-11-inch paper and portrait oriented.

Spin: Roller Night parties out of the rain
Want to hop on your bicycle, but hate the dark, cold and wet?
Sharing Wheels Community Bike Shop, a nonprofit in downtown Everett, is opening its doors at 7 p.m. Mondays this winter for Roller Nights.
Bring your bicycle, as well as rollers or trainers, for some group indoor exercise. Some rollers and trainers are available to borrow for the uninitiated, as well as a how-to. Then join others spinning the pedals to work off a few pounds or work on your pedal stroke.

Listen: Library added to ArtWalk
The Edmonds Library joins ArtWalk Edmonds this month.
Bryan Stratton will guide listeners through the lives and music of such greats as Bob Dylan and the Beatles at the next Music at the Library program, set for 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19. The library is at 650 Main St.
The program falls during the regular ArtWalk Edmonds.
ArtWalk Edmonds is held 5 to 8 p.m. the third Thursday of each month. More than 40 galleries and businesses host local and regional artists for the self-guided tour.
Music at the Library continues at 2 p.m. Feb. 4 with bluegrass and country band Old Growth, 6:30 p.m. March 16 with KUOW host Amanda Wilde and April 26 with steel drummer Ian Dobson.
