MUKILTEO — Firefighters were picking up debris and extinguishing hot spots after a house caught fire Thursday morning in Mukilteo.

The call came in around 3:30 a.m. When fire crews arrived to the 6100 block of 92nd Avenue West, the back of the house was on fire, Fire Chief Chris Alexander said.

No one was home at the time.

There was no way to drive around to the back of the house, making access difficult, Alexander said. Crews dragged the hoses around to the back yard.

As the flames spread, the roof collapsed and the floors became unstable, Alexander said. Firefighters saved what possessions they could.

Investigators have not determined the damage estimate and cause of the fire.
