Learn: St. Patrick’s Day family program
It’s St. Patrick’s Day.
Children are invited to learn about the history of Saint Patrick’s Day, hear stories from the Emerald Isle, create a rainbow and take home some treasure at a holiday celebration set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd.
Green attire is encouraged.

Eat: Corned beef dinner for a cause
A St. Patty’s Day Dinner to benefit the Sultan Boys &Girls Club and Volunteers of America is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Sky Valley Senior Center, 617 First St.
The menu includes corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots. (But grilled cheese is available on request.) Cost is $10, or $25 per family.

Sew: Learn, donate with sewing group
This month’s charitable sewing project by the Snohomish County Clothing and Textile Advisors will be tote bags for young children served at Safe Place.
The Sew Thoughtful event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in the education building behind the WSU Extension office at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett.
Bring your machine, thread, sewing tools and your own lunch. Sewing kits are provided.
Meanwhile, youth ages 8 to 17 are invited to sign up for a week-long series of classes in machine sewing, knitting, crocheting and more, April 3-7 at the Stanwood-Camano Community Fairgrounds. The class fee is $35. Registration is required by Monday to stitch4fair@hotmail.com.
Also, the group seeks donations of fabric, notions, trims, patterns, yarn, needlework items and related books and magazines for its annual Fabric Sale, set for June 17.
Proceeds from the annual sale support the Camp Stitch-a-Lot youth summer program, a scholarship for a student studying apparel design and development at Seattle Central College, and other community sewing programs.

Guide: Be a naturalist at Stream Center
The Adopt A Stream Foundation seeks docent naturalists to give interpretive tours at its Northwest Stream Center, located in Snohomish County’s McCollum Park in south Everett.
The 20-acre natural area gives visitors a view of forests, wetlands, streams, fish and wildlife through exhibits and a nature trail.
Volunteers must commit to a minimum of two four-hour shifts per month, be able to understand and retain basic natural resource science, be comfortable speaking to audiences of up to 10 youth and adults, and complete an open book take-home stream and wetland ecology exam.
An orientation for interested docents is 1-3 p.m. Monday or 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Required training runs 10 a.m.-3 p.m. March 24 or 10 a.m.-3 p.m. March 25.
An application and background check are required. Volunteers must be at least age 18. No formal education in natural resources is required.
