Newspaper research: The Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society hosts a free presentation “Read ’Em or Weep: Promises and Pitfalls in Newspaper Research,” 1 p.m. April 11 at 6111 188th Place N, Arlington.
The public is welcome.
School budget: The Edmonds School District holds “School Finance 101” workshops to gather feedback as it develops its 2017-18 budget.
Superintendent Kristine McDuffy will share the status of state and federal funding, and the priorities the district uses in deciding how to spend tax dollars.
Remaining workshops are at 5 p.m. April 12 at Mountlake Terrace High School (21801 44th Ave. W) and 8 p.m. April 19 at Edmonds-Woodway High School (7600 212th St. SW).

Bingo Night: Arlington Dollars for Scholars holds a Bingo Night fundraiser, 6 p.m. April 15 at Presidents Elementary School, 505 E. Third St.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Entry fee is $15 for 10 games. Concessions available. Silent auction. Proceeds benefit a scholarship fund for Arlington School District graduates.
