MUKILTEO — The Mukilteo Transportation Benefit District has scheduled a public hearing at 9 p.m. Monday to consider funding options for pavement preservation, pedestrian and bike infrastructure, and other transportation needs. The meeting follows the regular City Council meeting at City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way.

The City Council on April 3 approved the formation of the transportation benefit district, which gives it special authority to levy taxes and fees for transportation projects.

City staff earlier suggested two options for funding: a 0.2 percent sales tax increase; or a $20 vehicle license fee and 2 percent increase to the solid waste utility tax. The sales tax increase would require voter approval.

Oral or written comments can be presented at the hearing. Written comments also can be delivered to City Hall until 4:30 p.m. Monday.
