Talks continue

The city of Mill Creek and Snohomish County Fire District 7 continue to negotiate a new contract, with their next meeting scheduled later this month. The district provides fire protection and emergency medical service in Mill Creek in an arrangement that dates back decades. Officials hope to reach a resolution soon.

Challenge Day: Marysville is planning to host its ninth annual Healthy Communities Challenge Day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. June 3 at Allen Creek Elementary School, 6505 60th Drive NE. The free event will focus on fitness, nutrition, gardening and other recreational opportunities.Kung Fu 4 Kids and Rising Stars Gymnastics are scheduled to perform, and more than 70 vendors are expected. Meet the chief: The next “Coffee with the Chief” event in Sultan is set for 10 a.m. June 15 at Galaxy Chocolates. Bring questions for the police chief. An afternoon meeting is being scheduled for July as well.

Celebrate: A retirement ceremony is planned for Lake Stevens paramedic and firefighter Dennis Weisenberger. It is set for 2 to 4:30 p.m. June 3 at the fire district’s conference center. Weisenberger has served more than 20 years.
