HEADS UP

Keep pets safe in warm weather

With summer-like temperatures upon us, Snohomish County is reminding pet owners that leaving a pet in a hot vehicle can result in a $125 fine, and animal control officers are not liable for damages that may result from removing a pet from a hot vehicle.

If the outside temperature is 70 degrees, the inside of a car can reach 89 degrees in 10 minutes and 104 degrees in 30 minutes. Pet owners are encouraged to leave pets at home with access to plenty of water, shade and air circulation to stay cool.
