Webber chosen for Herald Scholarship

Katie Webber, a 2014 Everett High School graduate, was chosen for a $1,000 award to continue her photojournalism studies at Western Washington University, where she is a junior.

The scholarship was awarded by the Herald Scholarship Fund, established in 2008 to aid students from Snohomish and Island counties who are seeking careers in journalism. Several current and former Daily Herald staff members comprise the six-person board.

Webber earlier attended Everett Community College, where she was a sports photographer for the student newspaper, The Clipper. She also has been a reporter at the WWU Western Front.

“There is something about capturing those pure moments that go by so fast,” she said in an essay that accompanied her scholarship application. “My goal is to become a sports photojournalist for a newspaper, magazine or sports team.”
