Kitzman is district’s Teacher of the Year

Becky Kitzman, a math teacher at Sequoia High School, was named the Everett School District’s Teacher of the Year. Kitzman is now in the running for 2017-18 Washington State Teacher of the Year, which will be decided in mid-September.

Kitzman is known for incorporating jokes and songs about math into more serious lessons to help students who often are afraid of math or struggling to catch up to grade level. One joke: “What does the zero say to the eight? … Nice belt.”
