Fatal crash near Arlington caused by medical problem

ARLINGTON — Officials have confirmed that a medical problem caused a fatal crash on I-5 near Arlington on Sunday.

Roland R. Koepernick, 66, of Snohomish, died from natural causes, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.

His pickup smashed into a fence around 10:20 a.m. in the northbound lanes near the Smokey Point exit.
