Jackson High rain garden addresses storm water pollution

A rain garden created with help by an “Environmental Systems Design” class earlier this year was the first Snohomish Conservation District project of its kind at Jackson High School. The rain garden also will be used by future classes in an effort address storm water pollution. The group has applied for Washington Green School certification.

Students planted all the flowers and plants.

“The process of installing the Jackson rain garden was a learning process for us all,” teacher Gail Walters said. “From the research we did as a class, to the presentations, to going back to research again, it was a path that inspired us to actually make a difference at our school.”
