AquaSox outlast Volcanoes 11-10 to snap losing streak

KEIZER, Ore. — Ronald Rosario continued his hot hitting streak and Everett used a six-run inning to earn an 11-10 win over Salem-Keizer Thursday night at Volcanoes Stadium.
The win, which came in the AquaSox’s first game back from the All-Star break, snapped a five-game losing skid.
Rosario, who logged multiple hits for the seventh time in his last eight games, went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. Greifer Andrade was also 3-for-5.
Salem-Keizer hung four runs on Everett (20-26) in the first inning, as the Volcanoes got to AquaSox starter Randy Bell early and took advantage of throwing errors by middle infielders Joseph Rosa and Chris Torres.
Salem-Keizer’s Michael Sexton delivered the inning’s critical hit, driving home two on a line-drive single to center field.
Everett responded in the top of the second, cutting the lead to 4-3 thanks to a pair of home runs from Johnny Adams and Rosario. Adams led off the inning with a deep fly to right, his fourth of the year, and Rosario sent a two-run shot over the center-field wall for his fifth home run.
Logan Baldwin extended Salem-Keizer’s lead to 6-3 in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run, line-drive single into left field, and a Kevin Rivera single in the fifth put Everett in a 7-3 hole.
Then the game’s momentum shifted.
Adams reached base on an error to start off the top of the sixth, and that sparked a six-hit, six-run inning that sent 12 Everett batters to the plate and gave the Frogs a 9-7 lead.
Andrade, Eugene Helder, Austin Grebeck, Torres and Rosario each drove in runs and another run came across on a wild pitch.
The AquaSox weren’t done. Torres drove in two more runs in the top of the seventh with a single up the middle that extend Everett’s lead to 11-7.
Volcanoes outfielder Malique Ziegler trimmed the Frogs’ lead to 11-10 a half inning later with a bases-clearing, two-out triple that scored three.
Everett reliever Matt Clancy put a hold on the comeback bid, pitching the final 11⁄3 innings for his second save of the year.
