Police: Bad blood between ex-roomies led to Everett shooting

EVERETT — A falling out between ex-roommates led to a fight and a shooting this week in south Everett, police said Thursday.
A man, 34, and a woman, 31, had lived with the man they attacked Wednesday on Evergreen Way, said officer Aaron Snell, a police spokesman. Their time together ended badly. According to police, the pair arrived at a 7-Eleven in a stolen car with two other people around 3 p.m., and their group started to beat the man in the parking lot, according to police.
The man’s girlfriend told them to stop beating him, and fired a single gunshot that struck a man in the larger group, police said. He’s expected to survive, and — like the three others — to face misdemeanor assault charges.
Police continue to investigate if the woman used justifiable force. She hasn’t been charged with a crime. Her boyfriend, 29, wasn’t seriously hurt.
Another unrelated shooting in south Everett remains under investigation. The owner of a pickup confronted a man he found in his truck Wednesday afternoon.
The man ran, and the truck owner shot him in the right calf, according to police. Officers arrested the man who was shot. Police continue to investigate the shooter.
