Little explanation for shortage of blood pressure medication

This is an alert to all people who take the blood pressure medicine atenolol.

On Aug. 12, I went to my pharmacy to get my refill of atenolol. The pharmacist told me there was a shortage of atenolol all over the nation. She let me know that when her supply of atenolol runs out, she wasn’t sure she could get any more. I found this to be very disturbing.

I wanted to know why? She said she didn’t know why, unless someone bought up all the ingredients. I’m wondering would that be to change something or maybe jack up the price?

Your pharmacy can give you the name and phone number of a company that makes atenolol. I found out there are a lot of them. Maybe calling on of them would help.
