MONROE — A head-on collision east of Monroe Sunday night sent two men to the hospital.
A 19-year-old Everett woman was driving west on U.S. 2 in a Dodge Caliber. She had neared the intersection with Sofie Road around 7:20 p.m. when she attempted to pass a vehicle in front of her. The woman crossed the centerline into the eastbound lanes and struck a Buick Century, according to the Washington State Patrol.
She was not injured. The driver of the Buick, a 59-year-old man, and one of his passengers, a 47-year-old man, were taken to the hospital.
Monroe flooded with traffic Sunday as people drove into town for the Evergreen State Fair. A stretch of the highway was blocked while the State Patrol cleared the roadway.
