Woman killed in Mountlake Terrace crash Friday identified

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — The woman killed in a crash Friday has been identified as Staci L. Laugle, of Shoreline.

Laugle, 26, died of multiple blunt force injuries, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office announced Wednesday.

The man accused of causing the crash remained jailed for investigation of vehicular homicide. Michael Spieker, 26, allegedly told police he had as many as four drinks before the crash.

Witnesses said Spieker’s Nissan coupe swerved into oncoming traffic and passed another car. It swerved back into the lane near 222nd Street SW before it went into the brush, hit the tree and caught fire.

Laugle was pulled free by witnesses. She died at the scene.
