Soprano Kristin Vogel will perform with Cascade Symphony Orchestra Sunday and Monday evenings in Edmonds.

EDMONDS — Cascade Symphony Orchestra’s Holiday Pops concert — which will be performed Sunday and Monday evenings — features the talents of soprano Kristin Vogel.

Originally from Texas, Vogel earned her master’s degree from Manhattan School of Music and is completing her doctorate at the University of Washington.

During the coming Utah Festival Opera season, she will perform the title role in “Madama Butterfly.” She has performed with opera companies across the country and in Austria.

Vogel joins the orchestra for arias and Christmas carols, including “O Holy Night.”

The program, conducted by Michael Miropolsky, includes John Wasson’s Festival Fanfare for Christmas, Three Dances by Smetana from “The Bartered Bride” and arrangements of “White Christmas,” “Let it Snow” and “The Christmas Song.”

Other pieces include those by Johann Strauss, Leroy Anderson, Irving Berlin and Franz Lehar.

A medley titled Christmas at the Movies will include music from “Home Alone,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” “Miracle on 34th Street,” “The Polar Express” and “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

As part of its commitment to support young musicians, Cascade Symphony continues its Gold Medal program for talented high school students. Eight selected students from the Edmonds School District will join the orchestra for the second half of the Sunday performance.
