EVERETT — Armed robbers in masks hit an Everett convenience store and a fast food chain early Tuesday.

Detectives don’t think the same robber struck twice.

A Burger King employee went out back to take out the trash around 12:30 a.m. on 19th Street SE when he was confronted by a 6-foot, heavyset man in a flannel shirt, black gloves and a green mask, said Everett police Sgt. Maryjane Hacker.

He forced the worker back inside at gunpoint, and demanded access to the safe. A manager locked an office door. The robber banged on the door but gave up and ran out a back door, Hacker said. Police dogs couldn’t find him.

Around 3 a.m., a man in a mask and dressed in black walked into a 7-Eleven in the 1300 block of Broadway, police said. He threatened a clerk with a gun and fled with cash. The clerk was robbed on New Year’s Day, too, and told police it seemed like the same guy. Again, police couldn’t catch him.

Detectives are investigating if there’s any link to an armed robber in a Guy Fawkes mask, who hit two convenience stores in the Monroe area early Sunday. Armed robbers in hoodies struck two stores near Stanwood on New Year’s Day.
