EVERETT — Two men were taken into custody Friday afternoon after the driver of a stolen Ford Explorer refused to stop and spikes were used to end his ride at the bottom of Marine View Drive off of I-5 in Everett.

Police in Seattle first attempted to pull over the car in the Greenwood area in the north part of the city, Washington State Patrol trooper Heather Axtman said.

The car drove off and Seattle police stopped their pursuit.

They contacted the State Patrol, which also attempted to pull the car over.

Troopers also ended their pursuit, but the spikes were set up in anticipation of the Ford Explorer passing by.

The vehicle crashed at the bottom of Marine View Drive, and the driver backed into the State Patrol vehicle, Axtman said

No one was injured.

Both men had warrants, Axtman said.
