It’s on: Peep diorama contest

Incorporate some Peep candy into a book scene for the Arlington Library’s first-ever Peep Diorama Contest. Use your own supplies, or come by the library, at 135 N Washington Ave., anytime between Friday and April 5 to pick up materials to fuel your creativity.

Entries will be accepted starting Friday and are due by 2 p.m. April 6. Judging will be held at 3 p.m. April 6.

Vietnam Commemoration

Veterans of Foreign Wars Old Guard Post 2100 of Everett holds a local Vietnam War Commemoration event, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, which is Vietnam War Veterans Day. Lunch will be served. All Vietnam veterans are invited.

Preparedness event

The Camano Chapel HIS Veterans Group sponsors a program by the Camano Preparedness Group, 6-8 p.m. Thursday in Room 4/6 at 867 S West Camano Drive, Camano Island. The public is invited. Bring a snack to share.

Passport fair in Lynnwood

Plan to travel internationally? The Lynnwood Post Office hosts Passport Fairs, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. The post office is at 6817 208th St. SW.

Pay fees, get a passport photo and submit applications. All fees must be paid by check or money order payable to the Department of State.

Applicants also must provide proof of citizenship, which can be a certified birth certificate, certificate of naturalization or a previously issued passport. Proof of identity also is required, which can be a current driver’s license, military identification or state identification card.

Girls State scholarships

The American Legion Auxiliary holds Girls State, a leadership program for high school girls that includes a nonpartisan curriculum to simulate a mock election and city government operations. The program is by application and is open to juniors in good standing.

Local Auxiliary branches sponsor a portion of the selected girls’ registration fees for the Evergreen Girls State, to be held June 10-16 at Central Washington University in Ellensburg.

Contact your local Auxiliary for details. You can find a list of American Legion posts inside today’s Herald in the “In Uniform” column.
