Navy plans Everett exercise

Naval Station Everett has scheduled a security drill Wednesday. Some services will be closed to the public, as well as the parking lot, starting around 2 p.m. Neighbors might hear lights and noises.

Affordable housing plan

Snohomish County has released an updated draft of its affordable housing and community development plan for the Urban County Consortium. The plan would use more than $6 million in federal grant funds to improve housing and living conditions for people in need.

The draft plan is available for review and comment through April 18. A public hearing is scheduled April 6.

Scouts breakfast is Thursday

The Snohomish County Good Scout Breakfast, a fundraiser for the Boy Scouts of America Mount Baker Council, is set for 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center, 2000 Hewitt Ave., Everett. This year’s keynote speaker is Stanley A. Deal, president and CEO of Boeing Global Services.

Attendance is free. Donations will be requested at the event. Reservations are required.

EvCC Foundation breakfast

Western Washington University President Sabah Randhawa is the keynote speaker for the Everett Community College Foundation benefit breakfast, 7:30 a.m. April 17 at EvCC’s Walt Price Student Fitness Center, 2206 Tower St. RSVP by April 10.

There is no charge for the breakfast; attendees will be given an opportunity to contribute to the EvCC Foundation.

Folklife fundraiser

The local Sno-King International Folkdancers helps sponsor a fundraiser for Northwest Folklife, 7 to 10:30 p.m. April 14 at the Cedar Valley Grange, 20526 52nd Ave. W, Lynnwood. Enjoy an international folk dance party with two bands, Allspice and Orkestar RTW. Bring a snack to share. Costumes are encouraged.

Cost is a suggested $10 donation, or become a Friend of Folklife.

McClinchy Mile aids BIKES

The McClinchy Mile — a fully supported bike ride with scenic loops that actually stretch 28, 34 or 44 miles and can be repeated for century-length — is set for April 29 in Arlington, Stanwood and Granite Falls. All proceeds go back into local bicycling through the BIKES Club of Snohomish County.

Those who register in advance get a burger and beer following the ride. Cost is $45.

Fabric needed for CTA sale

The Clothing and Textile Advisors of Snohomish County seek donations of fabric, notions, trims, patterns, yarn, needlework items and related books for its annual Fabric Sale, set for June 16. Proceeds support a scholarship, Camp Stitch-a-Lot and other community sewing programs.
