Ladies tea coming up

The Carl Gipson Senior Center of Everett plans a Ladies Tea and Brunch, 1 to 3:30 p.m. April 21. The senior center is at 3025 Lombard Ave. Tickets are $20 and seating is limited. Enjoy entertainment, tea, sandwiches and desserts, along with a parting gift. For all ages, including daughters and granddaughters. Red Hat Society ladies get special seating.

The science of Peeps

How do you make a giant Peep? Will your stomach really explode if you eat Pop Rocks and drink soda? Why does chewing gum make fruit taste weird? Kids can learn all the answers, plus make slime to take home, at “Crazy Confections Candy Science,” 2 p.m. Saturday at the Arlington Library, 135 N Washington Ave. For ages 6 and older.

Philharmonic plans benefit

The Everett Philharmonic Orchestra plans a Spring Fling gala fundraiser, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. April 15 at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center in downtown Everett. Reservations are required by April 7. Tickets are $100 and include dinner, wine and live music. There also will be a silent auction.

The Carl Gipson Senior Center of Everett plans a rummage sale and welcomes donated items starting Thursday. Drop off donations at 3025 Lombard Ave. The sale will be held April 6-7.

Free tax time help

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide offers free tax preparation for low- to moderate-income taxpayers, especially those age 50 and older. The program is offered at local libraries and senior centers.

United Way of Snohomish County offers free tax preparation services to families and individuals who earn less than $66,000. Tax counselors meet one-on-one at 12 locations across Snohomish County.
