Some local students returned with awards from the DECA International Career Development Conference, held April 21-24 in Atlanta, Georgia. Nearly 14,000 North American students took part in the business and marketing education program’s top event.

Ethan Paisley, of Lake Stevens High School, earned first place in school-based enterprise food service operations.

Tabitha Daly, of Jackson High School, earned second place in financial consulting.

Sai Raksha Rayala, Priyanka Rao and Da Jeong Yoon, a team from Jackson, were finalists in financial literacy promotion projects. And Shea Hoogerwerf, from North Creek High School, was a finalist in principles of marketing.

North Creek High School also was recognized with a first-place ranking among new DECA chapters.
